Depends how you're running that kernel.

I built and booted 2.6.16.y fine not long ago, though I did not use
mkinitcpio with it, avoiding any possible problems there.

Older than that, and you'll start having problems. 2.4 will not work with
our glibc. Others will have issues with udev.
