[arch] Xvolume similar

I found a quite usefull app on http://freshmeat.net/projects/xvolume/
the problem is ... it's quite old and not updated so it has ... certain 
issues
I managed to compile it but look what happens when started :)

Is there a similar app someone encountered ?

So far i've been using the volume control for xfce panel but it's a bit 
annoying since when using the multimedia keys it's a bit laggy.
