i have the SB450 as well.
i have notice something tho, i have the stock kernel 2.6.20.7 that is
in current, and the CK kernel in extra and i have the same problem
with both. what i did notice was this, i didn't see the module
snd-hda-codec.ko, i thought that was one of the modules loaded when
you modprobed snd-hda-intel.

i could be mistaken, but thought i would share that info anyway.
