What is the important reason to use lilo instead of grub? I don't miss the
necessary of running lilo after every kernel update.-)

Arch have more than one kernel package. kernel26ck works excellent too.

With arch i never have had such a problem. But i use more than one kernel,
which is even a good idea, and i even update the kernel with running another
kernel because i be used to do this with my former distribution. Perhaps this
could be a option for you too.
